Crystals

The crystals are hexagonal with a sharp finish. It can also form hollow prisms or rounded forms similar to pyromorphite.

Crocoite

Vanadinite is a lead mineral colored by vanadium and thus typically red in color like crocoite. The crystals always shows a resinous luster like all lead minerals. It has a high specific gravity which makes this a heavy mineral.

It is a rare mineral and, like pyromorphite, it occurs in the oxidation zone of sulfide ore deposits carrying galena and other lead minerals.
