Monoclinic. A common habit of stilbite is as crystals in cruciform penetration twins. Tabular and sheaf like aggregates are also common.

Stilbite is one of the zeolite family of hydrous silicates with similar modes of occurence and similar properties. The sheaf-like aggregates, cleavage and lustre of stilbite are characteristic. Stilbite occurs mainly in amygdaloidal cavities in basalts and similar eruptive rocks, usually associated with other zeoolitesand with calcite. Also in granite, gneiss and metalliferous deposits.
