Richterite (also known as soda tremolite), derived its name from the German mineralogist Theodor Richter (1824-1898).

This is a very rare manganese stone and belongs to the Amphibole Group of minerals.  

It is mainly found in contact alkaline igneous rocks, metasomatic deposits, metamorphosed limestones, ultramafic igneous extrusives.

It's mainly used for lapidary purposes.
