Bulk Rough

2007 we have decided to concentrate on our retail shops and we have not done any bulrough since then. The details below are just for information and can not be ordered.

  • This is the ultimate rough guide to African rough.

  • Look no further than this page for competitive prices on all African lapidary rough.

    • We act as agents for most of the rough miners.

    • I saw a need for a one stop page where you can find information on all Southern African rough.

    • Being agents mean that we do not have a physical yard where you will see all the rough listed on this page.

    • We have been in the rough trade for almost a decade. We have here a comprehensive page of African Rough that might currently be available in Southern Africa

    • I list here the exact prices that has been quoted me by the miners.( December 2005)

    • Current prices may vary depending on availability and price increase, please feel free to enquer the latest price on the specific bulk price.

    • We will handle the shipment at a fee of 10 cents per kg. This is only an agents commission. This amount should be added to the prices quoted if you want us to handle your shipment. This agents fee is payable before we do anything and refundable if the miners default on delivery. We will then handle all negotiations with the miners of the rock and make sure that they deliver.

    • This does not include cost such as bagging, trucking and shipping.

      • Prices listed are for a minimum quantity of 20 000 kg or one small 6 meter shipping container per stone type. Smaller orders will need a separate quote. Please enquire.

      • Most of my miners prefer to do shipments of a full container load from a site. The reasons are quite clear. Stone must be transported from the mine to yard. Every mine only produces one type of rock. Trucking cost the same for 5 tons or 20 tons. It is not economical to truck five tons of rock from the mine which might be in Zimbabwe and the yard may be in South Africa.

      • Prices quoted are 'ex works'. This means that the price quoted is in the miners yard at a specific town. The main rock miners towns in Southern Africa are quite far from the ports or from one another.

What must you do? You press the enquiry button and it will take you to an e-mail page that is addressed to me. Now you can start to communicate with us.

Most African rough is reasonably priced but most buyers are reluctant to buy such large quantities. Our suggestion is for you to team up with other buyers and buy in bulk. Approach your local club and buy in bulk and so get rid of the high prices some local dealers charge for rough from Africa.
